Comparative Study of Analytical and Synthetic Methods of Teaching Mathematics
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the achievements of the students at secondary level when taught by analytical and synthetic methods of teaching mathematics. A sample of hundred students was taken from five government secondary schools and divided them into two groups: experimental and control group. The pre-test scores of the students show that there is no significant difference between the performances of two groups. Under a control environment, the students of experimental group were taught by synthetic method and students of control group by analytical method. After experiment, a researcher made post-test was conducted. The post-test result shows that there is a significant difference between the performances of students of two groups. The students of experimental group performed better than the control group.
