Students’ Perception toward Social, Economic and Environmental Impacts of Tourism in Chitral - Pakistan

Abstract


This paper examines the students’ perceptions about social, economical and environmental impacts of tourism in the tourists’ destination of Chitral - Khyber Pakhtonkhuwa Pakistan. The study is based on primary data collected from one hundred students in different universities of Abbottabad which belong to Chitral and Gilgit Baltistan. A self designed questionnaire was used for data collection. The result showed that students perceived economic impacts of tourism most favourably, followed by environmental impacts and social impacts. Students believed that tourism has provided job opportunities and can help to trigger the economy in the region. They have high hopes and positive outlook of developing tourism in Chitral.
