Energy Consumption and Economic Growth in Pakistan

Abstract

This paper analyzes the nature of relationship between economic growth and total energy consumption for Pakistan from the period 1980-2009 by using Co-integration and Error Correction Model. Granger casualty indicates the direction of causality between the variables. The study will provide help in determine the importance of energy sector for economic growth for Pakistan.
